Psychotherapy with horsesWelcome to this website which will give you an idea of the therapeutic work we - Martha Lindsell and Lavinia Lubbock - have been doing since 2013. Read on to see what we offer and whether you think it could be of help to you, your family or your organisation. We are based in Lindley near Otley (North Yorkshire), about 25-30 minutes by car from Leeds. Psychotherapy with horses (also known as equine assisted therapy) is an approach for people which uses interactions with horses to promote self-awareness and understanding. Each client or group is introduced by Martha to the horses and given options for ways to interact with them - eg grooming, walking, negotiating obstacles. This part of the session is observed by Lavinia and then used as a shared experience to explore with the individual or group what it has been like. The approach is a team effort of an accredited therapist (Lavinia Lubbock), a horse professional (Martha Lindsell) and a horse or horses working together with clients. Talk to us about putting together a programme for your organisational group. Below, the short video shows how an individual client might begin the first session.
